about

Signal to Noise is a beat tape series from Florida/Ohio beatmaker Sign One (Endemik Records, jerk circuit) dating back to 2014. Since the recording process began for sign’s 2016 Endemik release “Bottom Dollar”, sign would end up with hundreds of extra beats, loops, and samples. This was around the same time the “producer” fad went crazy online and Facebook was flooded with herbs trying to make beats strictly for sale or lease, due to the advent of more affordable production gear. Sign vowed to never sell beats again and only collaborate with artists. Thus began the S2N series, where sign would mash up all the extra bleeps and parts from lost beats that didn’t make the album. He has released 4 parts so far, parts 1-3 released on a compilation cassette on Illuminated paths, and part 4 exists only on Soundcloud.

Part 5 is 45 min of beats and soundscapes dating from 2019-2021, during the creation of Sign’s forthcoming album on Endemik Records, The Mighty Highs and The Lowly Lows.
